When you are in flow, you will not know that you are in flow, because you are not there. The ego does not exist when flow is happening. The only thing that can block the flow of the universal intelligence is the ego. The impression that you have to do something. That you have to take effort.
If you are under the impression that I am doing this, I am responsible for this, then taking responsibility for something you are not responsible for is the reason for your misery. It’s unfortunate. And it’s not something that’s out of our control. It’s being done by us. We forget who we are and we identify ourselves with this separate identity called the ego.
But that’s the whole play. To lose it and then to gain it again. If the ego never falls, you will never know what egolessness feels like. The very presence of the ego is what gives us the opportunity to experience egolessness. If you look at the entire design of it, it’s absolutely beautiful.
The universal intelligence is intelligent in its own way, not in the way of humans. Our intelligence is very limited. It is whatever we have been able to glimpse of the universal intelligence. That’s why what we know keeps growing. We will never reach the end of what can be known because it’s infinite. It’s unknowable. Knowing has no end.
At any given moment you are that universal energy flowing. It’s the ego, the separate self, the sense of doership that makes you stressed and worried, because you think you are responsible for running everything. You are not. You are not even responsible for beating your heart. You are not responsible for circulating your blood. Isn’t that strange? You cannot even take responsibility for what you are thinking. The thought just pops into your head. You don’t plan what to think. If you think you are in control of your thoughts, try predicting your next thought. You really can’t. You don’t know what it’s going to be. It comes in and it goes out. You’re not responsible for either. You’re not doing anything.
The more you realise that you’re not doing anything, the more the ego dissolves. The ego is the idea that you are the doer. It’s as simple as that. If you are doing everything, then you have to do your happiness. You have to do your peace. You have to make sure that everything is good and fine. There’s a lot of anxiety in that.
When you bypass the mind, you are just keeping the ego aside. You’re giving away control and trusting that the universal intelligence will flow through you in the best possible way. And it will. If it has to make you dance, it will make you dance. If it has to make you drive a car, you will drive. If it has to make you speak, things will be spoken through you. If it has to take you to the hospital to show your knee, it will take you. The activity is effortless. You are free of the burden of deciding what to do and what not to do. You’re just doing. Only the doing exists. You’re one with the universe.
