Your mind is like a mouse trap.

Just like a mouse trap has a piece of cheese or roti to lure the mouse in so that it can trap it, your mind baits you with a thought. It is a thought-baiting machine.

The moment you give attention to the bait, i.e, the moment you hold on to the thought, to have fallen into the trap. As you are thinking the current thought, your mind is ready with another platter of bait. It is ready with a connecting thought for you to jump onto.

And just like that, your mind constantly baits you, traps you, and makes sure that you don’t get out of the trap by continuously baiting you with more and more thoughts.

This is the mind for you.

And it is very simple to get out of it. All you have to do is remember that you are not the mind. You just have to step back and look at the thought that you are thinking. Look at yourself thinking the thought and look at the movie running in front of you. In this way, you get out of the movie.

Earlier when you were thinking, you were in the movie, you were going through everything. Just like a dream, you jump into the dream and then everything is happening to you. You had gotten into the dream, into the thought.

The moment you remember, you can jump out and watch the movie as a witness. The moment you do this, the thought bait drops. The mind cannot keep you trapped anymore because you are now aware of the trap and it’s mechanism.
